NSRC Warranty Agreement
Introduction
Solar energy systems represent a significant investment for homeowners and small businesses in South Africa. Protecting this investment is crucial to ensure long-term performance, reliability, and financial savings. A robust warranty provides peace of mind by covering repair and replacement costs, thereby safeguarding against unexpected expenses. The National Solar Repair Centre (NSRC) offers comprehensive Grey and Extended Warranties to address these needs.
Purpose of the Agreement
This Warranty Agreement outlines the terms and conditions of the Grey and Extended Warranties provided by NSRC. The agreement covers inverters and lithium batteries up to 48v and 10kw capacity, ensuring their optimal performance and longevity.
Definitions
1. NSRC: National Solar Repair Centre, the provider of the warranty services.
2. Customer: The individual or entity purchasing the warranty coverage.
3. Grey Warranty: A warranty for new and post-installed inverters and lithium batteries without manufacturer warranties.
4. Extended Warranty: A warranty extending the coverage of manufacturer warranties for new and post-installed inverters and lithium batteries.
5. Bridging Period: The initial waiting period during which no claims can be made, ensuring the equipment's good working condition.
6. Warranty Period: The duration of the warranty coverage after the bridging period.
Coverage
Grey Warranty
The Grey Warranty covers inverters and lithium batteries that are either sold new without a manufacturer warranty that can be locally supported or post-installed units without any type of warranty.
Duration:
- 3-year warranty with a 6-month bridging period.
- 5-year warranty with a 6-month bridging period.
Costs:
- 3-year warranty with a 6-month bridging period: R3,850.
- 5-year warranty with a 6-month bridging period: R4,850.
Extended Warranty
The Extended Warranty covers new and post-installed equipment (within 24 months of installation) by extending the manufacturer's warranty period.
Duration:
- 3-year extension after a 3-year manufacturer warranty period.
- 5-year extension after a 4-year manufacturer warranty period.
- 10-year extension after a 5-year manufacturer warranty period.
Costs:
- 3-year extension: R2,850.
- 5-year extension: R3,850.
- 10-year extension: R5,850.
Terms and Conditions
1. Eligibility
- The equipment must be up to 48v and 10kw capacity.
- For the Grey Warranty, the equipment must either be new without a manufacturer warranty or post-installed without any warranty.
- For the Extended Warranty, the equipment must be new or post-installed within 24 months of installation and currently under a valid manufacturer warranty.
2. Bridging Period
- A 6-month bridging period applies to the Grey Warranty, during which no claims can be made.
- A 6-month bridging period applies to post-installed items under the Extended Warranty, during which no claims can be made.
3. Coverage Details
- Repair and Replacement: Includes main boards, MPPT boards, control boards, and other critical components.
- Deinstallation and Reinstallation: Covers costs and logistics of removing and reinstalling equipment for off-site repairs.
- Refurbishment: Up to two refurbishments over the warranty period, if required.
- Call-Outs: One call-out per month for troubleshooting and minor repairs.
- Telephonic & Video Call Support: Unlimited daily support from 8 am to 5 pm.
- On-Site Repairs: Immediate on-site repairs by our mobile repair team when feasible.
4. Claim Process
- The customer must contact NSRC’s support team via phone or email to report a fault.
- NSRC will perform an initial troubleshooting session via phone.
- If the issue persists, a technician will be dispatched for an on-site inspection.
- Depending on the diagnosis, the equipment may be repaired on-site or deinstalled for off-site repair.
- Upon repair, the equipment will be reinstalled, and a performance check will be conducted.
- The customer will receive a detailed report of the repairs conducted.
5. Exclusions
- Acts of God (e.g., floods, earthquakes, lightning).
- Damage due to improper use or installation not performed by NSRC-certified technicians.
- Unauthorized repairs or modifications.
- Damage resulting from neglect or lack of proper maintenance.
6. Customer Responsibilities
- Ensure proper use and maintenance of the equipment as per manufacturer guidelines.
- Report any faults or issues promptly to NSRC.
- Allow access to NSRC technicians for inspections, repairs, and refurbishments.
- Keep records of all maintenance and repair activities.
7. Termination
- NSRC reserves the right to terminate the warranty if any terms and conditions are violated.
- The customer may terminate the warranty within 30 days of purchase for a full refund, provided no claims have been made or any service used.
Legal Provisions
1. Governing Law
- This agreement shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of South Africa.
2. Dispute Resolution
- Any disputes arising from this agreement shall be resolved through mediation. If mediation fails, the dispute shall be submitted to binding arbitration in accordance with the Arbitration Foundation of Southern Africa (AFSA) rules.
3. Liability
- NSRC’s liability is limited to the repair or replacement of the covered equipment as specified in this agreement. NSRC shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.
4. Force Majeure
- NSRC shall not be liable for any delays or failures in performance due to circumstances beyond its reasonable control, including but not limited to acts of God, war, and labour disputes.
5. Entire Agreement
- This agreement constitutes the entire understanding between the parties concerning the subject matter and supersedes all prior negotiations, agreements, and understandings.
6. Amendments
- Any amendments to this agreement must be in writing and signed by both parties.
Acceptance
By purchasing the NSRC Grey or Extended Warranty, the customer agrees to the terms and conditions outlined in this agreement. This warranty provides essential protection for your solar energy system, ensuring its longevity and optimal performance.
